16-year-old commits suicide after being raped as punishment

A 16-year-old girl in India was found hanging on Christmas day after apparently taking her life. She had been kidnapped and gang-raped as punishment for her mother winning a local election. She went to the police with her mother to report the matter but she wasn't taken seriously. Feeling humiliated and traumatised, she took her own life. It was only after her death that police swung into action and arrested two suspects.

The Socialist Party candidate in Mirzapur, Arvind Sen, said that the girl was gang-raped to avenge the poll defeat, allegedly by relatives of a losing candidate.

Her mother was elected for the local government faction, the block development council, in the Mirzapur district of north-east India.

However, a senior police officer told said that a post-mortem report did not find signs of rape.
The latest incident is the latest high-profile case to spotlight women's safety in India in recent years. Two construction workers were arrested for the rape of a woman on the premises of tech giant, Infosys. The men, aged in their 20s, filmed the alleged assault, which occurred on Sunday at one of the IT firm's offices in the western city of Pune in Maharashtra state, officers said.

It comes a week after lawmakers passed a bill allowing harsher punishments for juveniles aged 16-18 following an outcry over the release of a young rapist who served three years in a detention facility for his part in a notorious gang rape in 2012.

Earlier this month, an Indian court sentenced seven men to death after they were convicted of the rape and murder of a Nepalese woman suffering from mental illness, reports said.

FG reduces fuel price by 50 kobo per litre

The federal government yesterday reduced the pump price of petrol from N87 to N86.50k per litre with effect from January 1st.

In a statement signed by the‎ executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Farouk Ahmed in Abuja, FG said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) retail stations will sell at N86 per litre, while retail outlets owned by oil marketers will sell at N86.50k per litre. ‎

The new price follows the approval of the minister of state for petroleum resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. The statement adds that the new price will remain till March 31, 2016.
“This is not static; there will be a quarterly review of the pricing template. However, if there is any pricing shift, the minister of state for petroleum resources may call for a review upwards or downward depending on the market condition but for at least the first quarter of 2016 the price will be N86.50/litre while for NNPC it is N86/litre,” he said.

Woman electrocuted in hotel room on her birthday

24 year old Funke Balogun, a National Diploma II student of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), was allegedly electrocuted in a hotel bathroom owned by her boyfriend Abolade Adetunji's mother at 30, Balogun Street, Oshodi in Lagos on Sunday December 27th.
According to a report by the Nation, Funke who is a mother of one, was in a relationship with Abolade who just passed from NYSC. According to Funmi, the younger sister of the deceased, Abolade came to pick her sister at their residence on Saturday around 11pm.
“Abolade was in a hurry that night and I told my sister not to go but she picked some of her things and left with him. On Sunday morning around 7, she called and said plans had changed that they were not going to the beach again but to a hotel and since then, we have been trying her mobile line. When she didn’t pick her call, I became worried. That day was her birthday and our mother still called her in the midnight to pray for her. Even, when my mum called Abolade’s mobile line, someone picked and said he forgot his phone and since then his lime has been switched off."
Funmi said when she and some family members went to the hotel to see if they could check on her, they didn’t see her, adding that the receptionist said Adetunji just stepped out and wasn’t with a girl.
“Even when we got to Abolade’s house, we were told he had gone to the beach. Around 8pm on Sunday, my cousin and I went to the hotel again, I sighted blood on the wall and when I asked Abolade’s brother, Bayo where my sister was, he said: ‘at the moment, Funke is dead’; he said it without remorse and was still icing drinks in the freezer. Even when we went to the police station, they said they were not aware of the incident. Is that how my sister will die? She has been dating him for almost a year. He just returned from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Anambra State. The boy is very proud to the extent that whenever he visited her, he didn’t greet anyone.”she said
When interviewed, Abolade said his girlfriend died of shock.
"‎She was already in the bathroom and I went to meet my brother who was on the same floor with us to get the toothpaste. As I returned to the room, I tried to open the toilet door but it was stiff. As I gained access to the toilet, I met her on the floor with a shower handle on her right hand. When I tried to carry her, I didn’t know what happened until I saw myself on hospital bed.”
His father, Jamiu Adetunji, A. K.A (Yaro), said Abolade’s elder brother called their mother that they needed a doctor.
“Immediately we took them to Geo Medical Centre where Funke eventually gave up. We first took her to General Hospital, Ikeja but she was rejected because there was none of her family members with us. It was later we reported the incident to Akinpelu Police Station where they took the body to Yaba mortuary. I wouldn’t want to kill someone else’s daughter. Funke was my son’s girl friend and I told her to help me monitor his movement because at times he wouldn’t listen and since he talked about her dearly, I felt she was going to inspire him. It is really unfortunate. My son has put me in trouble. Even when they wanted to know the girl’s full name, I pinched my son few times just for him to wake up. I have arrested the electrician that connected light to the building because last Friday, occupants of the building beside the hotel complained of shock in their house and I told the electrician but he refused to come. It was after the incident he came and was arrested. “‎
The mother of the bereaved, Kehinde Balogun, has remained inconsolable since the day of the incident
"Funke was my first child and she has a three-year-old son. The only reason they live alone is because her school is close to the family house in Oshodi. Why did they kill my beauty? Why? What have I done to deserve this? I wish she listened to her sister that night because she had a dream. I saw my daughter in my sleep this morning telling me she had ret

Man arrested for parading himself as a Colonel and defrauding victim of over N40m

62-year-old Babatunde Idris has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for parading himself as a colonel in the Nigerian Army and using a fake identity to defraud one Yinusa Mustapha of the sum of N40m.
The state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said Idris was arrested after a petition was filed against him.
He said:
“Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.”
Oyebade added that the suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation in 2012, but up till now that hasn't been done. He failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account.
The commissioner added:
“The suspect forged various letterheads of the Nigerian Army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance. He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel”.
The suspect said on the other hand said:
“I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man. One of my brothers is a general in the army. One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it.
“Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed.”

NNPC- 75% of fuel in Nigeria will still be imported in 2016

Group Managing Director NNPC and Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, during his tour of Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, KRPC, yesterday, said the country will still rely on 75 per cent importation of fuel throughout the whole of next year.

According to him:
“The future is that, Nigeria is still going to import fuel in 2016 and beyond. Best case situation is 25 per cent local and 75 per cent importation. Worse case is what we are experiencing now.
“Until we begin to get individuals who can co-relocate, we are going to be doing a mixture of local and importation of fuel to meet up demands. In the next few weeks, however, queues will disappear in fuel stations.”
The minister said that the Kaduna refinery will soon be producing more than two million litres per day capacity as soon as an Fluid Catalytic Cracking, FCC, unit is fully on stream.
He said:
“We need to get it back to re-kit it to work well. We will do that with some level of production going on. Our concern is to have a consistent production and provision of products at all times.”
“We will not be fluctuating prices, we will take an average. Today no subsidy, in January we will look at the situation and announce it.”
In regards to privatization, he said:
“President Muhammadu Buhari has not approved any policy about selling the refineries.”

ISIS 'female Gestapo' kill and mutilate mum for breastfeeding

Islamic State's 'female Gestapo' mutilated and killed a mum - because she was breastfeeding her son.
The innocent mother covered her son with her burqa to hide him, but members of the Al-Khansa brigade spotted her and meted out their barbaric punishment.
Al-Khansa is a special brigade set up to enforce the terror group's strict Islamic views.
Aisha, a former resident of Raqqa in Syria who now lives in southern Turkey, told the Sunday Times: "An Isis policewoman took the baby, gave it to another woman, and then killed the mother.”
Harrowingly, pro-ISIS social media sites revealed she was mutilated before she died.
Al-Aqsa is a special brigade set up to enforce the terror group's strict Islamic views.
They bite and whip any woman who steps out of line and force girls to become sex slaves.
As many as 60 British women are thought to be members of the brigade, which operate in ISIS' self-proclaimed capital Raqqa.

The city is ruled by fear, with torture, stoning and crucifixions common.

All women are prohibited from going outside or travelling without a male relative.

ISIS imposes a strict dress code demanding all females from puberty upwards wear two gowns to hide their body shape, black gloves to cover their hands, and three veils so their faces cannot be seen, even in direct sunlight.

Women have been publicly buried alive in sand for breaking the code.
One former Syrian schoolteacher trapped in the city opened up to Channel 4 in a documentary, titled: Escape From ISIS.
She said:
"We have no freedom. We cannot go out on the balcony or look through the window. They will arrest a woman if she wears perfume or raises her voice. A woman’s voice cannot be heard."
The teacher told of her horrifying capture by the city’s ruthless all-women police unit, the Al-Khansa brigade.
"They said my eyes were visible through my veil. I was tortured. They lashed me. Now some of them punish women by biting. They give you the option between getting bitten or lashed."

GEJ's aides approached us with $3m for votes – CIO

The Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO) has alleged that some aides of former President Goodluck Jonathan approached the body with $3 million so as to canvass for their votes during the presidential election.

According to Leadership, Coordinator of CIO, Imam Abdullahi Shuaib, made this claim during the 22nd National Islamic Training Programme (NITP), holding at Odosengolu, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

He said they rejected the government’s offer tagged: “religious fund”, meant to secure support of Muslims in Nigeria for the ex-president and his party-PDP, during the general elections early this year.
“It is not a secret, they came, offering us over three million dollars, we said no….It came through their proxies to us and we said no. And today we have been vindicated and it is not even part of our own culture to take bribe. We prefer to go hungry than to collect a bribe from somebody, that is unlawful.” He said that some officials of the Jonathan-led administration (whose identities were not disclosed) approached the CIO with money but it rejected “because we know very well that it was a bait; it was a poison and you cannot eat and dine with the devil and think the devil will not come after you.”he said

FG May Reduce Petrol Price to N85/litre January 1st 2016

The Federal Government may reduce the pump price of petrol to N85 per litre from January 1, 2016.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, made this disclosure to journalists at the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Rivers State, after inspecting the plant.

Asked when the Federal Government would release the new petrol price template prepared by the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulation Agency, Kachikwu said that he approved the new price for the agency on Thursday.

Pressed to reveal when the new price would become effective, Kachikwu, said:
“like I said, we have done a modulation and it is showing us below N87. I imagine that if PPPRA publishes it today, it will become effective immediately. But the 1st of January 2016 is when we are looking at.”
He said the new price would be below the current N87 per litre and it would now convince Nigerians that the pricing modulation that the Federal Government promised to embark on a few days ago was not a trick.

Armed Robbers Shoot Man, Son in Calabar

A Calabar-based business magnate (name withheld) and his son have been shot in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, after an armed robbery operation in the victim’s resident that lasted for more than three hours.

The victims, who reside along the MCC Road in Calabar, were said to be recuperating from the gun wounds they sustained during the attack.

A close family source, Adah Igwe, disclosed that the man owned a filing station around the vicinity.

She told Southern City News on Friday that the robbers gained access to the building after they had
succeeded in disarming the security guard.

Igwe said:
“The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, between 1am and 4am. The bandits first tied up the security guard and seized his phone before they proceeded to the house which shares a perimeter fence with the fuel station.
“When they came, they shot through the door and later through the window which they broke and came in through it.”
She also added that a stray bullet pierced through the window hitting the son in the leg while the father was shot after the robbers gained entry through the window.

Igwe also alleged that after about three hours of operation, the robbers left with “small cash” as they could not find “whatever it was that they were looking for.”

The victims were later admitted at an undisclosed private clinic where they underwent surgery to extract pellets from their legs.

It was observed during a visit to the building that the house was being renovated as welders were seen fixing the broken metal works.

Also noticeable were shattered glasses where the bullets went through and a part where one round lodged in the wall.

It was learnt that the State Housing Police Division had visited and collected statements, but had yet to confirm the extent of investigation.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Eluu, said he had yet to be briefed on the incident.

“I am yet aware of that attack, but I will find out and get back to you,” he said.

Mum's Distress As Daughter, 11, Gets Vile Christmas Card

A distressed Irish mum has posted a 'vile' Christmas card that was sent to her 11-year-old daughter calling her a ‘f**king b**ch' and telling her to attend another school. The card also says that the little girl is hated by everybody at the school.

The cover of the card is a Christmas picture of four cats with the words 'Mistletoe and Mischief'. On the inside of the card, the handwritten message starts with: "Hello b***h. Your (sic) are a b**ch. We all hate you. You are a f**king bitch. And a little c**t,” it went on.

"We all hate you at school, basketball, football, running and the musical. Everywhere you go. Don’t ask us to ure (sic) house or a sleepover. Don’t ask us. We hate your house." The note ends with another "go to a other school b**ch." Continue...

The card is understood to have been sent by a kid of similar age to the 11-year-old that got it, The Irish Independent reports.

The little girl's mum wanted to highlight the bullying so she posted two pics on Facebook of the card. Social media users have however condemned the bullying and asked her mom to investigate it.

How To Advertise Your Website In 10 Good Ways

When you make a website, the main focus of a website is its traffic. All webmasters want traffic to their websites.

This guide should aid you in advertising your website and driving that all important traffic to your website.

Steps 1: Get Google Analytics and study the statistics carefully. Look at the graph and see if it points up or down, but you will need to look into the statistics in more detail if you want to increase your traffic even more. Look into what websites bring members and what pages are the most popular on your website, and create more pages like that.

Step 2: Submit your website to popular websites such as Reddit, which has over 2 billion views per month. Another alternative is using a free traffic exchange website like Petlip. People on Reddit will be interested in your topic and as long as you keep to the rules, you should gain a lot of traffic.

Step 3: Make your website look professional. Don't mess up coding or make the website look like it was done by an amateur. People will just go on to professional websites if they don't like yours, so make people think that yours is as professional as it can be and people will stay and read the content.

Step 4: Target your website at an age group. If you are starting a game website, what will the main age range be? What language will you use? Don't use complicated language for a gaming website, make it more relaxed. A politics website may use more complex language, make it readable for the target audience.

Step 5: Buy advertisement space on other websites. There are lots of websites that will let you buy advertising with them, you just have to ask them. Make sure you have enough money and then pay them upfront and they will put your advertisement on their website for as long as you have asked for.

Step 6: Stay dedicated. Don't give up if you don't get the traffic that you want straight away. It takes a while before you see a good amount of traffic coming onto your website. Google has to index it and you have to get it to a good page rank before the good traffic will come.

Step 7: Keep adding content. No one wants to read a small website; keep writing more things and there will be more for your readers to read.

Step 8: Ask people to comment on your posts. Put a comment box underneath your posts and ask questions in your posts, eg, "We think this is a good idea and we would like to hear from you." People will then reply to this in the comments section. Keep up the conversation with them and they will keep coming back.

Step 9: Add a "subscribe" button. People will see new content as it is published when they subscribe to your website. Make it visible but not too big and in the way.

Step 10: Make social account profiles for your website. Facebook and Twitter is an excellent way of getting people to your website. Stay active on these websites, and people will see you on them and notice your website.

With this little tips, i hope you will be able to advertise your website

Saudi Arabia set to behead teenager because he attended a protest

Abdullah ah-Zaher became the youngest person given the death sentence, according to campaigners Reprieve.
Campaigners claim Abdullah ah-Zaher, who attended the protest when he was 15 years was put on death row as part of a crackdown on political dissent.

The now 19-year-old has been moved to solitary confinement and could be beheaded at any moment.
Despite possible repercussions, his family have gone public with his story, in a final bid to save his life.
His father Hassan al-Zaher said:
“Please help me save my son from the imminent threat of death. He doesn’t deserve to die just because he participated in a protest rally.”
According to the campaign group, Reprieve, Abdullah was arrested for being in the area of a protest in March 2012, beaten by police and tortured.

He was then allegedly forced to sign papers police fabricated. Saudi media reports suggest 52 prisoners will be executed at any time.

Abdullah was held alongside Ali al-Nimr, who has been sentenced to a death penalty for allegedly instigating a revolution using his Blackberry.

A Reprieve spokeswoman said:
“What we know from the families of the three is that they are in solitary confinement and being prepared for execution.
“They have been moved and undergone medical examinations, which seem to suggest their beheading is imminent.

US search for Afghan trainees who disappeared while training with the U.S. military

US Air Force officials say the Department of Homeland Security has taken the lead role in the search for two Afghan men who disappeared while training with the U.S. military at a base in south Georgia.
The men - who were part of a group of 23 from Afghanistan who have been at the base since February - have now been identified as Mirwais Kohistani and Shirzad Rohullah.

Their names and passports were released Thursday as part of a federal investigation to track down the pair, after they failed to show up for training on Monday.
Air Force Lt. Col. Chris Karns said Friday that Homeland Security, in coordination with the U.S. State Department, is leading efforts to locate the men.

However officials maintain there is no evidence that either of them pose a threat.
The Air Force said both men were screened before entering the U.S.

'The students have trained alongside American counterparts for the entirety of 2015 and do not pose any apparent threat,' the Moody Air Force Base told 11 Alive on Tuesday.
'There is a well-coordinated process among federal agencies to locate the individuals as quickly as possible and return them accordingly to the proper authorities to manage their present situation.'
Moody reiterated Thursday that the men still did not pose a threat, even though efforts to find them had been ramped up.

The missing Afghan nationals in Georgia are assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron, which was re-activated in January and charged with training Afghan airmen.

In January, a soldier in the Afghanistan army, who went missing during a training exercise at a military base in Massachusetts, was granted asylum by the US, the AJC reported.

The soldier was one of three Afghans who turned themselves in at a Canadian border crossing in New York state in 2014 after disappearing from an exercise, provoking a search by military officials and state police.

President Buhari says names of looters will be published soon

President Buhari yesterday said that his adminstration will soon publish names of those who have returned portions of their loot.
President Buhari, according to Vanguard said that the Central Bank of Nigeria will soon publicly release the names of those who looted the country's treasury and have returned parts of their loot.

He said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) hasn't published the list yet because they don't want to jeopardize investigations and further recoveries.

At the 15th session of the Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation lecture at the International Conference Centre, in Abuja yesterday, the president said:
“We have taken steps towards recovering a reasonable amount of the money that was looted or misappropriated from public coffers. Investigations are ongoing on public officers who served, or are still serving, and those whose conduct are questionable will be compelled to accept the path of honour and surrender their loot,” he said. “As I stated recently, a good number of people who abused their positions are voluntarily returning the illicit funds.
"I have heard it said that we should disclose the names of the people, and the amount returned. Yes, in due course, the Central Bank of Nigeria will make information available to the public on the surrendered funds, but I must remark that it is yet early days, and any disclosure now may jeopardize the possibility of bigger recoveries. “But we owe Nigerians adequate information, and it shall come in due course.
